Now i have to admit at the start that i am no expert when it comes to printers and especially when it involves an enterprise/corporate sized Multifunction Printer.
One of my remote offices decided to use their contract for a rental copier to their advantage and ditch the seemingly 10 year old copier for a new multifunction copier. This new unit does it all with a color touch screen and some nifty other stuff. So naturally this should be a smooth install as the tech has already done the initial setup and all he asks me is if this should keep the same settings as the old one. I reply with a yes. One of the things that we need the multifunction machines for is network scanning to email. I test it out in the "Command Center" and low and behold something is wrong with the connection. I verify that i can ping our relay server and sure enough its there. Looking a bit deeper i get my network admin in on this and find out that our firewall is blocking port traffic and we get that fixed. CC is now reporting it can establish a connection, excellent!
Now for the fun, it has already been close to an hour on site working with the tech trying to resolve this and another hour for the admin to find the problem with the permissions on the firewall and fix them. Lunch time. I get back to cracking on this and sure enough a new error appears and it basically tells me that my email is not valid. I try a bunch of settings and get the admin back in on this to see if we can figure it out. its now been since maybe 10:30am this morning and i just realized that i changed a setting in the SMTP portion of the copier that was blocking domains as recipients. Turned that off and Bam, it works. Go Go Good Team!
Happy Friday!
